Spirulina growing medium

Zarrouk’s growing medium – 440 grams – for 20 liters of culture.

Zarrouk’s medium is a widely used growing medium for the culture of Spirulina Platensis. It’s a well balanced source of major nutrients and trace metals.

Ingredients: Carbon, Bicarbonates, Nitrogen, Potassium, Sulfur, Sodium, Chloride, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Calcium, Iron (chelated), Chelated micronutrients (Boron, Manganese, Zinc, Copper, Molybdenum).

Instructions: Weigh 22 grams of the Spirulina growing medium and add to 1000 ml of distilled water. Stir until completely dissolved. Warming the water slightly can help the growing medium dissolve more easily. If sterility is necessary, autoclave the solution for 15 minutes and allow to cool before use. Once the growing medium is ready for use, the algae culture can be added.
